Bruce Gourley is a professional historian, award-winning photographer and editor based in Bozeman, Montana. Among his many published works is the 2022 book, Historic Yellowstone National Park: The Stories behind the World’s First National Park.

Our meet-and-greet service will take you from just outside your gate through the passport control area and help you through luggage claim and customs.

Day 2
CAIRO
Explore the ancient necropolis of Saqqara, home to Egypt’s first pyramid and vibrant 4,000-year-old tombs, with a chance to step inside and see original hieroglyphics. After lunch at a local restaurant, wander through Cairo’s Old Islamic Quarter and the bustling Khan El Khalili Bazaar, the largest historic market in the Middle East.

CAIRO
Stand in awe before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx, guided by your expert Egyptologist who brings their legends to life. After lunch at a local restaurant, explore the world-renowned Grand Egyptian Museum, home to over 120,000 ancient artifacts.

Day 4
LUXOR
Fly to Luxor and explore the magnificent Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built, dedicated to the god Amon Ra. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the impressive Luxor Temple, a masterpiece of ancient architecture built by Pharaoh Ramses II.

Day 5
LUXOR
Start with an OPTIONAL (not included) sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor’s temples and the Nile’s west bank. Then explore the Valley of the Kings, including tombs of Ramses VI & King Tutankhamen, visit the grand Temple of Hatshepsut, & stop by the Colossi of Memnon before lunch at a local guesthouse.

ASWAN
Drive south to Aswan, arriving at your riverside hotel after a scenic journey through the desert. In the evening, enjoy a sunset felucca sail around Elephantine Island—complete with a glass of wine as the Nile glows gold.

ASWAN
Take a short boat ride to the island of Philae to visit the elegant Temple of Isis, dedicated to the goddess of love and passion. After lunch, cruise to a Nubian village to meet the locals, learn about their vibrant culture, and experience a community that has preserved its traditions and language for centuries.

ASWAN
Fly to Abu Simbel to marvel at the awe-inspiring temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, carved into the cliffs over 3,000 years ago. After exploring this monumental site, return by flight to Cairo and settle in for your final night at the Le Meridien Airport Hotel for a smooth departure.
