Join us in India for the Diwali festival of lights- a traditional celebration of victory of light over darkness, good over evil. We’ll celebrate Diwali with a local family in their home. This itinerary also includes some of the “must-do” activities in India- the Taj Mahal, Har-ki-Pauri ghat, Elephant sanctuary in Jaipur, a VIP Aarti viewing, as well as visiting markets, riding rickshaws, and we’ll even stay in a Palace! UNESCO
Amber Fort in Rajastan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is named after Amba, the Goddess of Earth & Fertility. It has the 3rd largest Wall in the world, and dates back to the 16th century.
COMMUNITY
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is probably the largest attended community kitchen in the world. This volunteer-led, free kitchen never closes and feeds 35,000 people every day.
TAJ MAHAL
The Taj Mahal is one of the new 7 Wonders of the World, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Commissioned in 1632, it took 20 years to build and cost the equivalent of 70 billion rupees ($956 mil US).

Day 1
ARRIVAL IN DELHI
Our driver will greet you at the airport and take you to the hotel where you’ll meet your trip leader and fellow travel buddies.

Day 2
OLD DELHI
Morning: Old Delhi tour with a local expert on specially built Cycle Rickshaws.
Afternoon: visit Sikh Temple- the largest attended community kitchen in the world. The practice of selfless service goes beyond the bounds of religion and serves to nourish the soul, creating a sense of unity and oneness.

Day 3
HARDIWAR
Early train to Hardiwar
Afternoon visit to many temples. Evening visit Har-ki-Pauri one of the most sacred ghats in India. Lastly, VIP Aarti viewing on the Holy River Ganges. Participate in the religious custom of lighting an oil lamp on a leaf boat, if you wish.

Day 4
RISHIKESH
Visit the Beatles Ashram where they wrote “Abbey Road”.
Visit Parmarth Niketan Ashram, one of the most popular ashram’s in Rishikesh and also one of the top yoga centres in India
Train back to Delhi

Day 5
JAIPUR
5 Hour private transport
Afternoon visit Elefantastic- a no-ride elephant sanctuary. The owner, Rahul, rescues orphaned and abused elephants from temples and tourist attractions across India. It’s an educational and personal experience and a highlight of the trip.

Day 6
JAIPUR
Visit the ancient capital city Amber to see the Amber Fort- a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Later, local expert takes us on a walking tour to explore the vibrant bazaars of the old city. It’s a great way to explore Jaipur like locals do and learn about the rich traditions of this city.

Day 7
CHOMU
Transfer to Chomu approx 1.5 hrs
Check in at the Chomu Palace, an elegant fortified palace hotel that revives the gracious lifestyle of the royals of Rajasthan.
Day at leisure, lunch & dinner provided by hotel.

Day 8
NEW DELHI
Transfer back to Delhi approx 5 hrs
Then, join a local family for Diwali celebrations at their residence- make Rangoli, light Diya, get blessings of the goddess Lakshmi who symbolizes wealth and prosperity.
Enjoy dinner and sweets (included).

Day 9
AGRA
Take the morning train to Agra and head straight to the Taj Mahal!
(lunch on your own)
Afternoon visit to Agra Fort, the formal imperial residence of the Mughal Dynasty.
Train back to Delhi.

Day 10
DEHLI – DEPARTURE DAY
Morning tour of Qutub Minar, the 2nd tallest Minaret in India, and Mehrauli Archeological Park.
Dinner is reserved at an airport hotel in Delhi.
After dinner, transfer to the International airport to connect your flight back home

Most flights back to the US will depart Delhi in the late evening and arrive in the US the next morning (due to the time difference). Our itinerary has been built around this standard flight pattern, please book accordingly.
