• Coffee Tour & Lunch with Don José – Get off the beaten path as we head to Alotenango, 30 minutes outside of Antigua, for a unique coffee tour with our friend Don José. Upon arrival at Don Jose’s, we’ll climb into the back of his pickup truck and ride through the farmland of Alotenango to visit his small coffee plot. Here, he will teach us about all the steps involved in making your morning cup of joe – from cultivation, harvest, processing, all the way to roasting and preparing!
• Visit to Pintando El Cambio Community Project in Santa Catarina – Project Pintando El Cambio, or Painting the Change, is an inspiring initiative transforming the village of Santa Catarina Palopó, located near Lake Atitlán. Launched on December 11, 2018, this project aims to create jobs, reinforce local identity, and empower the community. With approximately 72% of its 6,000 residents living in poverty, the initiative has sparked economic growth by creating around eight new businesses and attracting tourists, drawing about 300 visitors monthly. Over the past year, 230 homes have been transformed, engaging 230 families and over 300 volunteers. By using art to inspire pride and development, Pintando Santa Catarina Palopó sets the stage for broader community revitalization. We’ll visit the project and get to witness first-hand the changes being made.

• Artisan Meet & Greet: Casa Flor Ixcaco Textile Cooperative – A women’s led textile cooperative, Casa Flor Ixcaco is a truly inspiring and incredible example of empowered female indigenous entrepreneurs who are using their talents and traditions, on their terms, to bolster their economy and share their heritage proudly. During your time with Casa Flor, you’ll watch and participate in a weaving demonstration to learn all about the process from start to finish including how the thread is naturally dyed, designed, and ultimately crafted into a beautiful garment or textile.
