Italy, Switzerland, & France

Women's Tour du Mont Blanc Hut to Hut Trip with Meredith Ewenson #2

July 20-26, 2027
Total: $5350
Important note: This trip is not the “full” 110 mile TMB. This is a 5-day, 45 mile “north loop” section that still spans all 3 countries.

Join Meredith on an unforgettable 7-day hut to hut journey through the heart of the European Alps, starting in Courmayeur and ending in Chamonix!

On this challenging-level trek, we will tackle the stunning north half of the classic Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) route, crossing international borders on foot as we traverse from Italy to Switzerland and finally into France.

Our adventure begins with a pickup in Geneva before heading to the charming Italian town of Courmayeur. From there, we lace up our boots for five days of spectacular hiking, averaging 7 to 11.5 miles daily with vertical gains reaching up to 4,600 feet. Your luggage will be transferred hut to hut for you, so all you’ll need to hike with is a day pack!

Highlights of our journey include:

  • Italian Val Ferret: Hiking a “balcony” trail from the Bertone refuge with exceptional views of the Mont Blanc Massif.

  • The Swiss Border: Standing atop the Grand Col Ferret (8,170ft), the gateway between Italy and Switzerland, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and glaciers.

  • Alpine Pastures & Vineyards: Trekking through the Trient Valley to admire the Rhône Valley vineyards and the peaks of the Bernese Oberland.

  • The Smuggler’s Route: Following ancient paths over the Col de Balme back into France for phenomenal views of the Chamonix Valley.

  • Lac des Chéserys: Visiting one of the most spectacularly situated lakes in the range, perfectly reflecting the surrounding glaciers.

Each evening, we’ll immerse ourselves in authentic mountain culture, staying in a mix of mountain huts, rustic auberges, and comfortable hotels. We will share local meals, raise a toast to our progress, and build lifelong friendships while a state-qualified female trekking guide ensures our safety every step of the way.

Whether you’re gazing at the Aiguille Verte or descending into Chamonix for our farewell dinner, this trip offers the perfect balance of physical challenge and breathtaking alpine beauty.

Important note: This trip is not the “full” 110 mile TMB. This is a 5-day, 45 mile section that still spans all 3 countries.

Fitness note: This trek is 5 days in a row of challenging hiking terrain with a total of 45 miles, 15,400 feet elevation gain and 13,500 feet elevation loss. In other words: This active trip is best suited for those with a consistent fitness routine and/or willing to train in the 6-8 weeks leading up to the trip. A basic recommended training program and packing list will be provided. All hikes are subject to be adjusted based on the needs of the group and may shift or change depending on weather conditions, all at the discretion of our professional guide.

This 7-day hiking trip on the North Half of the Tour du Mont Blanc route travels through Italy, Switzerland, and France. The journey includes 5 days of primary hiking through the stunning scenery of the Alps, exploring mountain hamlets like Villair Superior and La Fouly along the way, with one night in Courmayeur and one night in Chamonix on each end for airport transfers from Geneva

Trek Details: Physical Rating: 4/5 – The Tour du Mont-Blanc North half is a challenging trek. Over the course of the trip, there is a minimum of 2350 ft (700m) and a maximum of 4265 ft (1300m) of vertical gain and about 5 to 7 hours of hiking daily. We will be hiking on generally well-maintained mountain trails, sometimes including out-of-trail sections. All trekking is led by a state-qualified female guide. Good physical fitness is imperative and previous hiking experience with distances over 5 miles are highly recommended to get the most out of this trip/be the best fit. YOUR HOST

Meredith Ewenson

Hi! My name is Meredith and I’m a nature, hiking, and outdoor content creator based in Newport, Rhode Island. You can find me on social at @meredithewenson enjoying one of my local nature trails or hiking hut-to-hut in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and around the world.

I love to create experiences that bring women into the outdoors so they can experience the grounding and connected feeling of being immersed in nature. At times that might mean stepping out of your comfort zone, but I promise you’ll feel more confident and capable because of it!

Joining a group hiking trip with me means you will meet new, like-minded friends and create true, deep connections through your shared experience on the trail and in nature. While some women come with a friend, most sign up solo, which is the perfect opportunity to “take a solo trip” without actually going alone 🙂

I hope you’ll join me, feel free to DM me on Instagram with any questions or concerns at @meredithewenson.
