Join the Legit Trips experience as we travel to Machu Picchu and take you on one unforgettable trek. This is one of our most popular trips and provides an immersive adventure, exploring the magical town of Cusco and learning from our local Peruvian trekking guides along the trail.
Join us for a private group adventure of the Salkantay trail and Machu Picchu! The best way to cross Machu Picchu off your bucketlist. Our trip will be private just for Legit Trips guests and we’ll be providing our signature fun along the way! This is a fully supported 40 mile trek along the Salkantay Trail as we travel to Machu Picchu. Two days in Cusco before the hike to acclimate to the altitude are included as well as a hotel night in the end to relax before we depart!

- 3 Nights accommodations in 3*+ hotels, 2 in Cusco, 1 in Aguas Calientes
- 2 nights in specialty glamping along the Trek- 1 night glass topped houses, 1 night hobbit houses
- 2 nights camping, last night of camping overlooks Machu Picchu! An experience you can only have by camping.
- RT hotel transfers from Cusco airport
- 5D, 5N Salkantay Trek
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day for the trek along with a happy hour of tea and snacks. A snack will be provided each morning for you to enjoy along the hike.
- Drinking water while on the trail
- Transportation from and back to Cusco for trek
- Entrances to Machu Picchu, permits, camping equipment etc. are all included.
- Additional hiking items are available for rent- trekking poles and sleeping bag
As soon as you put a deposit down for this trip, we begin submitting permits for Machu Picchu specifically with your name and passport information on them. Spots with our trekking operator and permits for Machu Picchu are non-refundable. Thus, we are not able to honor any refunds or transfers on this particular trip. Thanks for understanding.

Fun Facts About Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is made up of more than 150 buildings ranging from baths and houses to temples and sanctuaries.
Elevation
Located at 7,000 feet above sea level , Machu Picchu is the most visited tourist destination in Peru and was built in 1450 AD.
Discovery
Machu Picchu was only known locally until a Yale Professor re-discovered the site in 1911. His book, The Lost City of the Incas, was based on his findings.
Well Preserved
Machu Picchu is one of the most well-preserved Inca cities and an archeological gem, as it wasn't destroyed during the Spanish Conquest like other ancient cities.
